The American Lawyer
’s annual report on law firm financial performance.
For the period 1930–1980, lawyer headcount figures were taken from the Firm’s internal personnel directories, and gross revenue figures were taken from the Firm’s audited annual financial statements.
Because the Firm’s 1970 audited annual financial statements could not be located, lawyer headcount and gross revenue figures from 1969 have been included. Audited annual financial statements and Firm directories from 1925 or earlier could not be located in the Firm’s files. The 2008 lawyer headcount and gross revenue figures were included to record this data for the first year of the global financial crisis that began that year.Lawyer headcount:
